Sometimes we meet someone, and are so impressed by the personality and the interaction, that we remember that person lifelong. And sometimes fortune plays such games, that we meet someone we think is so wonderfully special, but then life never does bring the same person near us again. Maybe decades will pass, and we occasionally will think of that person, and remember the feeling of goodness we had. But sometimes life is kind, and allows us to meet some such person whom we met long, long ago, and always remembered with fondness.

Well one of these days, we may come to the bottom of this ocean of melody. Well yes, after all, the music that was created in the first four decades – has been created, and it is not possible to add to it anymore. And so one day we would have discovered all that is there to discover, and would have discussed it here on this blog. But as of now, there is still so much out there in front of us that thankfully, it is still going to be many years before this treasure gets exhausted. And I am sure there is enough for a lifetime. 🙂

Well, yes, there is a film by the name ‘Great Show of India’. Released in 1958, it is a social drama from the banner of Chitra Bharati, Bombay. By some accounts, it appears to be a story built around a circus company. I request our more knowledgeable team members and readers to please add more information about this film. The film is directed by C M Trivedi and Chandrakant. The cast of actors includes Kamini Kaushal, Mahipal, Tiwari, Maruti, Kamal Kapoor, Mirza Musharraf, Moni Chatterjee, Kamal, Jugnu, Gamdiya, Bhujbal Singh, Reva Rakshit.

“Jailor” (1958) was a Minerva Movietone pictures production. It was directed by Sohrab Modi. The movie had Sohrab Modi, Geeta Bali, Kamini Kaushal, Pratima Devi, Abhi Bhattacharya, Nana Palsikar, Daisy Irani, Raj Kumar, E. Tarapore etc in it.

“Kaala Paani” (1958) was a Navketan Production movie. It was directed by Raj Khosla. The movie had Dev Anand, Madhubala, Nalini Jaywant, Agha, Kishore Sahu, Rashid Khan, Mukri, Krishna Dhawan, Jankidas, D K Sapru etc in it.

Nazar ki kataari ye kaise chali

When I began to follow movies in my younger days then at that time Rajesh Khanna was everyone’s favourite actor. Actors of the previous generation, viz Dilip Kumar, Raj Kapoor and Dev Anand were considered as passe, especially by someone like me. I regarded Dev Anand as an old man trying to act as a youngster in his movies instead of acting in roles befitting his age.
