Nazar ki kataari ye kaise chali

Posted on: December 1, 2012

When I began to follow movies in my younger days then at that time Rajesh Khanna was everyone’s favourite actor. Actors of the previous generation, viz Dilip Kumar, Raj Kapoor and Dev Anand were considered as passe, especially by someone like me. I regarded Dev Anand as an old man trying to act as a youngster in his movies instead of acting in roles befitting his age.

I had heard the song Hai apna dil to aawara without being aware of the movie this song was from. I decided to research into this song in late 2008 , and that is how I became aware of this movie called “Solva Saal” (1958). I managed to get the VCD of this movie and watched the movie. I was bowled over by the movie and I began to look at Dev Anand (and also Waheeda Rehman) with newfound respect.

When one goes through the writeups of the four earlier songs of this movie, one would find that I had discussed these songs in some great details.

This fifth and final song is “Nazar ki kataari ye kaise chali”. This song is sung by Asha Bhonsle and it is the final song in the movie as well. The song takes places close to the end of the movie as the climax is approaching. Dev Anand and Waheeda Rehman, on the trail of Waheeda Rehman’s necklace, find themselves in a movie studio where both of them are hired improptu as extras for a film shooting.

The song is lip synced by Kammo, who plays an actress and the girlfriend of Jagdev- Jagdev being the person who cheats Waheeda out of her necklace and gifts that to Kammo.

Majrooh Sultanpuri is the lyricist. Music is composed by S D Burman.

Lyrics of this song were sent to me by Nitin Shah.

That was on first december 2009 that I discussed the first song from “Solva Saal” (1958) in thisbloge. Now, exactly three years later, the sixth and final song of “Solva Saal”(1958) has made it to the blog. 🙂 What a wonderful coincidence indeed!

Lyrics(Provided by Nitin Shah)

nazar ki kataari yeh kaise chali
nazar ki kataari yeh kaise chali
haai raam

yeh lagi ee
nazar ki kataari yeh kaise chali
haai raam
yeh lagi
yeh lagi
yeh lagi ee

aaaa

hahahahaha

ham din dhale
jaate thhe chale
ham din dhale
jaate thhe chale
baalam ne dekha
phir hamne dekha
naine mile
bass naina milan ki der thhi
bass naina milan ki der thhi
yeh lagi
yeh lagi
yeh lagi
nazar ki kataari yeh kaise chali
haai ram
yeh lagi
yeh lagi
yeh lagi

karti bhi kya
jab usne kaha
karti bhi kya
jab usne kaha
ham hain tumhaare
nainon ke maare
rukna zara aa aa
rukne hi ko thhi main baawri
rukne hi ko thhi main baawri
yeh lagi
yeh lagi
yeh lagi ee
nazar ki kataari yeh kaise chali
haai ram
yeh lagi
yeh lagi
yeh lagi

woh na tumhi
aisa dekha kahin
woh na tumhi
aisa dekha kahin
tadpe hai ghaayal
mehfil ki mehfil
main hi nahin
ik main hi nahin ghaayal huyi
ek main hi nahin ghaayal huyi
yeh lagi
yeh lagi
yeh lagi ee
nazar ki kataari yeh kaise chali
haay raam
yeh lagi

yeh lagi ee
nazar ki kataari yeh kaise chali
haay raam
yeh lagi
yeh lagi
yeh lagi
