The storyline of “Phagun” (1958) was clearly inspired from “Naagin” (1954). In “Naagin”(1954), the heroine finds the music of “been” irrestible, whereas in “Phaagun”, hero’s flute has a similar effect on the heroine. In “Naagin”, we had Pradeep Kumar and Vyjyanti Mala in lead roles, whereas in “Phagun”, we had Bharat Bhushan and Madhubala playing the same roles.

In old Bollywood movies, actors were often seen singing while playing a grand piano. Songs like that to me were unrealistic, because firstly, it is not possible to play that huge instument while singing a song at the same time. It is easy to notice that the song is picturised on Dhumal and Tuntun who emerge out of the church after getting married and then immediately burst into this comic song. The song is sung by Rafi and Geeta Dutt.

The same Bhajan was used in “Saadhana” (1958). This time, N Datta was the music director and Sahir Ludhianvi wrote the bhajan in Hindi. Geeta Dutt, who sang it originally in Gujarati, sang it it in the Hindi version too.
