Shashdhar Mukherji wanted to sign up Shammi Kapoor, but Agha Hashra Kashmiri pointed at the youngster arriving at the home and told Shashdhar Mukherji-“Here is the hero of your movie”. That younster of none other than Joy Mukherji, Shashdhar Mukherji’s son. Shashdhar Mukherji was skeptical but he entrusted the job of grooming Joy Mukherji as a hero on Kashmiri. The mention of the title “Chaudhvin Ka chaand” (1960) is enough for one to recall the title song of this movie which I was aware of for as long as I can remember. That is how popular this song was. Let me hasten to add that I was not born when this movie and its songs were released, but I recall hearing this song in late 1960s. In the financial markets to which I belonged until my retirement, there is an oft repeated remark that not even a die-hard practitioner or expert in the financial markets can claim that he knows everything about the markets. This is mainly on account of the fact that financial markets are dynamic by nature. How true this maxim is in the realm of old Hindi film songs where dynamism flows from unearthing old gems and some related unknown anecdotes.

‘Hum hain raahi pyaar ke’ – the phrase reminds me of an iconic song “ham hain raah pyaar ke ham se kuchh naa boliye” from the film NAU DO GYAARAH (1957) and the Amir Khan-Juhi Chawala starrer film HUM HAIN RAAHI PYAAR KE (1993). I was not aware of the fact that there was one more film by the same name until I came across an audio clip of a beautiful song from that film.
