“Do Bhai”(1961) was directed by Vishram Bedekar for All India Pictures. The movie had Abhi Bhattacharya, Shakila, Anil Kumar, Helen, Sulochana, Daisy Irani, Manorama, Rajan Haksar, Indira Bansal, Durga Khote, Om Prakash etc in it.

Fivesongs from this movie have been discussed in the past.

Here is the sixth and final song from “Do Bhai”(1961) to appear in the blog. This song is a light hearted children’s song. It is sung by Asha Bhonsle and chorus. The song is picturised on Daisy Irani and other children and it is about the exploits of a mighty mouse who has terrified reputed hunters as well as cats, sending them packing to places as far as Calcutta and Delhi respectively. 🙂

Jaan Nisaar Akhtar is the lyricist. Music is composed by N Datta.

With this forgotten gem of a song, “Do Bhai”(1961) joins the list of movies that have all their songs covered in the blog.

We (or at least I) believe that most Hindi songs are picturised unrealistically and they bear little resemblence to real life situations. However, every now and then we come across songs that are picturised so nicely and realistically that they warm the cockles of our heart.

Vintage Kishore Kumar. And I thank Shekhar Vaishnav ji, who is connected to our blog from Sydney. Thanks for the reminder for this song.

The fun songs by Kishore Da are a class apart by themselves. There is nothing at all in this world to compare them to. And during the 50s and 60s, when Kishore Da also acted in many films, there is a number of very wonderful songs that he has sung and also performed on the screen. An accomplished actor that he was, he has done the best interpretations of his own singing, and has performed his own songs, as no other actor can even consider it possible. Each one of the pictures that he acted in, contain fantastic gems that are superb both from the singing as well as from the performance aspects.

Today I have found a long lost acquaintance with this qawwali. Actually I was looking at songs of this ‘Aarzoo’ posted in the blog, and thought it is not marked with red which means some songs are yet to be found. I have seen this movie too on T. V., the old black and white one. And thought i knew all the songs. I reached raaga.com through google search. There I found this song listed as ‘jab ishq kahin ho jaata’ sung by Asha Bhosle and Mubarak Begum. No, those words did not ring a bell. Than searching for audio/video on youtube revealed the ‘jab ishq kahin ho jaata hai’ The final ‘hai’ was very effective and I recalled the song, mukhda and even the words in the antaras were eminently guessable. It has been a while since I heard this song, and definitely had no inkling who are the singers of this song.
