Today’s song is from the film Gogola-1966.

This film was an ordinary stunt film of 1966, but it had some interesting stories about it. At least I will never forget this film. 4 songs from this film have already featured here. 1 from Sudhir ji, 1 from me and 2 from Atul ji. This is my second song which I am writing about here today.

——————————————-——————————————

Today’s song is from the movie ‘Romeo In Sikkim-1975’. This movie has been introduced recently on the blog with a song sung by Mukesh on 25.06.2023. Today we add the second song from this movie on the blog. In fact this song was the first song that I had drafted for sharing. But when I noticed that this movie had a song sung by Mukesh, then I shared that song with our dear Mahesh ji so that it could get introduced on the blog during the‘birth centenary year’ of the legendary singer Mukesh.

Azamgarh district lies in the Purvanchal part of Uttar Pradesh (UP) which is identified by the Ministry of Panchayati Raj as one of the 34 backward districts of UP. In the absence of medium and large industries in the district, the main source of income for the inhabitants is from the agricultural and allied activities. So, the size of the landholdings becomes a crucial part in generating income for the landowners. With the divisions in the large-sized joint families, most of the landholdings have got fragmented. Hence, there is motivation for those who continue to stay in the district to augment their landholdings, if necessary, by dubious ways, especially from the close relatives who have migrated to cities and have become the absentee landowners. One of the dubious ways of grabbing the land is to bribe the district revenue officials to declare the absentee landowners dead and grab their lands.

The blog has songs from “Shri 420” (1955), “Shrimati 420” (1956) & “Ustaad 420” (1969) – from which “Shrimati 420” is one short from being YYIIPPEEEED. Hindi films have a few more ‘420’ (char sau bees). There is a “Khiladi 420” which came in 2000 & “Chachi 420” which released in 1997. These are the 420/s that I know of, there may be one or two more films with ‘420’ in their title.

In this article, I have taken up for discussion an obscure film which had taken a long time to complete. The film had a censor certificate dated April 5, 1991, but it appears that the film did not get a theatrical release. Later, the film was released in the VCD format. I am talking about the film, ‘Lakhpati’ (1991). The film is available for viewing on one of the video sharing platforms.

Dussehra (Vijaya Dashami) is celebrated on the 10th day of Navratri festival. One of the common traditions during the celebration of Dussehra festival is the burning of the effigies of Raavan along with his son Indrajit and his brother Kumbhakaran, symbolising the victory of good over evil. However, there are few places in India where Raavan’s effigy is not burnt during Dussehra celebrations. On the contrary, Raavan is worshipped.

The roots of the Carnival in Goa date back to the introduction of Roman Catholic traditions during the Portuguese conquest of Goa, & is being celebrated since the XVIII century. After the end of Portuguese rule, the Brazilian version of the festival was imposed by Timoteo Fernandes in 1965, a Goan musician who modeled it after the famed Rio Carnival. This was done to attract more tourism. Today, the urban parade includes floats from local villages, commercial entities, and cultural groups. It is still organised in a very traditional manner, including staging of streetside local plays, in the coastal taluka of Salcete.
