BADALTE HUYE SAATHI- Episode No. 6 (Hamida Bano sings with Shyamkumar)
—————————————————————————-

When I planned this series I knew that this subject is very vast and it was not possible to cover all major singers in such a short series. According to a source, from 1931 to year 2000, a total of about 7000 actors (male and Female) acted in Hindi Films in small and big roles. There must be atleast 1500 well known actors and the pity is, we do not have complete information on even 500 actors. For majority of actors, there are no Photographs ( remember, for a considerable time, how difficult it was to get a photograph of Shamshad begum or Madhubala Jhaveri ? ). So we know nothing about them except their names.

“Ishaara” (1943) is a movie produced ages ago and little information is known about this movie today. But we have our own inhouse Mr Arunkumar Deshmukh to help us out. In addition, we also had late Khwaja Sultan Ahmad (brother of music director Khursheed Anwar) as our visitor in the past who shared some unknown facts about those days. Here are the details of this movie as narrated to us by the two abovementioned knowledgeable expers:

I am presenting a song ‘tumne mujhse prem jataa kar’ from the film WAAPAS (1943). At first, the voice of the singer in the song appears to be that of Jagmohan Sursagar. In fact, one of the uploaders of the audio clip has mentioned Jagmohan Sursagar’s name as the singer of this song. Actually, the song is sung by the singer-actor Asit Baran. I am not surprised with this slip up on the part of the uploader. I for once also felt that the voice was that of Jagmohan Sursagar. The music composition of the song also gives an impression that it is a non-filmy song. The song is written in a ghazal format by Munshi Zakir Hussain which is set to music by R C Boral.
