Tripathi, Rajan Haksar, Poonam Kapoor, Sundar, Babu Raje, Yashodhara Katju, Rajrani, Helen, Sheela Kashmiri, Roopa, Heera Sawant, Uma Khosla, Lata, Nimmo Firoze, Lata Roy, Sarla, Buta Ram Sharma, Gangaram, K.P. Rao, S.P. Anand, S.N. Ghosh, Avtaar Singh and others. This movie was passed by censor board on 30.09.1957.

Today’s song is from the film Paak Daman-1957.
The story of this and other such same titled films was from a popular stage drama of the early 1900s. There were many versions of the story with small and big variations. The Parsi Urdu Theatre’s dramas were penned by Agha Hashra Kashmiri, known as Shakespeare of India. The Parsi Gujarati plays were written by various authors. Syed Yawar Aliu, a student of Dagh Dehlvi penned the script for the Moon Parsi Theatre. The Alfred drama company had their own version of this story.

Ratibhai Punatar was the producer of this movie. The cast of this movie included Nirupa Roy, Shahu Modak, Sulochana, Tiwari, P. Kailash, Trilok Kapoor, Babu Raje, Charubala, Pal Sharma, Uma Khosla, Suryakumar, Manek, Rajrani, Poonam Kapoor, Anil, Moolchand and others.

Wednesday, 28th August 2024 was a very sad day for me. On this day, I learnt about the sad demise of Shri Harish Raghuwanshi ji from Surat. He was one of the most well known Hindi and Gujarati film Historians in India. He had a very large circle of admirers and friends all over India, but he hardly moved out of Surat, as far as I know.
