“Aath Din” aka “Eight Days” (1946) was directed by Dattaram N Pai for Filmistan Limited, Bombay. The movie had Ashok Kumar, Veera, S L Puri, Rama Sukul, Mohsin, Upendranath Ashq, Mehdi Ali Khan, Agha Jaan, Shree Bhagwan, Leela Mishra, Sunalini Devi, Sunetra, Noorjahaan Banu etc in it.

S D Burman is mainly known as a music director. He also sang songs. Most of his songs were philosophical in nature that would typically be played towards the beginning of the movie and set the tone for the story.

The decades just prior to 1950s, viz 1940s and 1930s were where the decks were cleared for the golden era to commence Listening to songs from these two pioneering decades is an enriching experience as it helps us go down memory lane by more than six to seven decades back to an era when I was not born and even my parents were small kids at that time.

The golden era of Hindi movie music began in late 1940s and lasted till late 1970s. There are very few music directors who were around when the golden era began and who lasted almost the entire period of this golden era. The one music director who was around for almost the entire duration and whose was S D Burman.
