S D Burman is mainly known as a music director. He also sang songs. Most of his songs were philosophical in nature that would typically be played towards the beginning of the movie and set the tone for the story.
Imagining S D Burman singing a light hearted song is difficult. But it is true. S D Burman has sung light hearted songs too. Here is a “teasing” song sung by him. This song is from “Aath Din”(1946). The light hearted lyrics are penned by Qamar Jalalabadi. Music is composed by S D Burman.
I discovered this song only a few hours ago. What a lovely song to listen to. It is indeed one of those forgotten gems that music lovers should know more about.

Kya kahen? The surprises will never end in this huge ocean of music. I am aware of many non bahajn and non philosophy songs of Burman da; but none so playful and fun.
What a lovable melody.

This is a duet song sung by S D Burman and S L Puri. For instance, the lines, ‘aise nakhron se
aise nakhron se dhokhaa na khaanaa
na khaanaa
tere dil ka banegaa nishaanaa’ are, in my view, sung by S L Puri.

This could be train song too, the music in the end sounds like a train. I thought S. D. Burman sang only “maazhi songs”. This is refreshing. Thanx for posting this.
