I did a quick scan of the films for which C Ram has composed music, in the Geet Kosh, from 1950 onwards. And unless I made a mistake in my scanning, the film ‘Meenaar’ in 1954 seems to be the first time that Asha Bhosle has sung for C Ramchandra. If not mistaken, then this is likely the first such occasion.

“Shabaab” (1954) was a Sadiq Preoduction movie. It was produced and directed by M Sadiq. Star cast of the movie included names like Bharat Bhushan, Nutan, Badri Prasad, Yashodhara Katju, Wasti, etc. From the songs of this movie, I have deduced that the storyline of this movie was losely based on Sanskrit scholar Bilhan’s work which was written in 11th century AD. Bilhan should not be confused with Kalhan who also lived in the same areas (Kashmir), but one century later and who wrote “Rajtarangini”.
