This is a song from film NAMOONA-1949, sung by Lata Mangeshkar with music by C Ramchandra.

1949 was the begining of Lata-C Ramchandra friendship which lasted perhaps till she sang for him in Bahurani-1963. From Girls school 49 to Bahurani-63, the Lata-C Ramchandra partnership gave us a feast of lovely, memorable and very melodious songs.

“Saaqi” (1952) was a Talwar Pictures Production. It was produced by R C Talwar and directed by H S Rawail. The movie had Premnath, Madhubala, Bipin Gupta, Mohna, Randhir, Iftikhar, Rirkoo, Mumtaz, Mattoo, Chandabai, Uma Dutt, Azim, Douglas, H. Prakash, Nazir, Sadhusingh, Cuckoo, Gope etc in it.

HAM LOG (1951) was a typical Zia Sarhadi film highlighting the social issues in keeping with the socialistic ideology followed by Indian People’s Theatre Association (IPTA). The film was produced under the banner of Ranjit Movietone. In this film, social issues were raised that arose out of the difficulties faced by a poor family of Lalaji Harcharandas (Kanhaiyalal) and his wife (Durga Khote), unemployed son Raj (Balraj Sahani), a sickly daughter Paro (Nutan) and a school going son (Master Ratan). The problem is further accentuated by the arrest of Lalaji for allegedly stealing money from his employer for which he is sent to prison.

These days people fight elections to come to power and once they get a taste for it, then want to cling to it at any cost. During mythological times, the King of gods, viz Lord Indra would cling to his chair like a leech. One did not have to fight elections to come to power those days. One needed to do tapasya (penance) in a jungle for long years. Whenever a tapaswi sage would decide to go to a jungle and do “tapasya”, Lord Indra would get worried, thinking that the sage was after his chair. So he would try to disrupt the “tapasya”.
