O baabu kaise dil karoon qaaboo

Posted on: September 9, 2012

“Sagaai”(1951) was a Varma Films production. It was directed by H S Rawail. The movie had Premnath, Rehana, Sunder, Cuckoo, Gope, Yakub, Vijayalaxmi, Purnima, Mohana, Iftekhar etc in it.

As many as five songs from this movie have been discussed in the past. Here is the sixth song from this movie.

This song is a stage song. It is sung by Lata, amirbai Karnataki and chorus. I can identify the lady lip syncing in Lata’s voice as Cuckoo but I am unable to identify the lady dressed as a male and lip syncing in Amirbai Karnataki’s voice. I request our knowledgeable readers to help identify her.

The song is written by Rajinder Krishan. The music is composed by C Ramchandra.

Lyrics

o baabu
o baabu
kaise dil karoon qaabu
samjhaaye jaa
o jaani
o jaani
teri badi meharbaani
batlaaye jaa

o baabu
o baabu
kaise dil karoon qaabu
samjhaaye jaa
o jaani
o jaani
teri badi meharbaani
batlaaye jaa
o baabu

teri jaan ki qasam
meraa dil nahin bas mein
jaao jaao jaao
naa khaao jhoothi qasmen

teri jaan ki qasam
meraa dil nahin bas mein
jaao jaao jaao
naa khaao jhoothi qasmen

teri jaan ki qasam
hai imaan ki qasam
mujhko hai tujhse pyaar
meraa jiyaa beqaraar
mujhko apnaa banaaye jaa
o baabu
o baabu
kaise dil karoon qaabu
samjhaaye jaa
o jaani
o jaani
teri badi meharbaani
batlaaye jaa
o baabu

hato-hato bade dekhe
pyaar jataane waale
ankhiyaan nachaa ke
nakhre dikhaa ke
jiyaa bharmaane waale

ho o o o
jawaani ki qasam
zindagaani kii qasam
main hoon teri ghulaam
tujhe meraa hai salaam
mujhko dil mein basaaye jaa
o baabu
o baabu
kaise dil karoon qaabu
samjhaaye jaa
o jaani
o jaani
teri badi meharbaani
batlaaye jaa
o baabu
