I have not counted the number of songs sung by Rafi for Shammi Kapoor, but it is high time I did that. There are so many of them, and it is amazing how Rafi could summon so much energy and enthusiasm every single time he had to sing a song for Shammi Kapoor. Just about everyone of these songs are gems, that have stood the test of time.

“Love in Tokyo”(1966) is the most Shammi Kapoorish of all movies not involving the great man himself. “Love in Tokyo” (1966) has Joy Mukherji instead and he does a great job here as a Shammi Kapoor clone.

I have not discussed a Shammi Kapoor style song in this blog for quite some time. No, it is not because I have run out of such songs. There are still many such songs that are yet to be covered.

I have not kept a count of it, but I think I have posted songs from most Shammi Kapoor movies in this blog. Considering that Shammi Kapoor came into his own in 1957 with “Tumsa Nahin Dekhaa” (1957) and continued till late 1960s with the kind of movies with he is identified, he may have worked in about 20 odd typically Shammi Kapoor movies. I have posted songs from almost all these movies, in addition to posting songs from other Shammi Kapoor movies where he played other kinds of roles.
