I am aware of the movie “Laila Majnu” (1976) but I was not aware that a movie called “Daastaan e Laila Majnu” was released two years prior to that. This movie, viz. “Daastaan e Laila Majnu” (1974) was obviously a B grade movie.It was produced and directed by R L Desai. Starcast of the movie included names like Kanwaljeet, Anamika, B. M. Vyas, Dulari, Jayshree T., S. N. Tripathi, K. N. Singh, etc.

During 1950s and 1960s, there used to be quite a few movies with the word “ustaad” in them. This blog have had songs from movies viz “Do Ustaad” (1959), “Ustaadon Ke Ustaad” (1963), “Ustaad 420” (1963), “Ham Sab Ustaad Hain” (1965),”Sab Ka Ustaad” (1967) etc but the movie with the defining word in them, viz “Ustaad” was not among them.

‘Hum hain raahi pyaar ke’ – the phrase reminds me of an iconic song “ham hain raah pyaar ke ham se kuchh naa boliye” from the film NAU DO GYAARAH (1957) and the Amir Khan-Juhi Chawala starrer film HUM HAIN RAAHI PYAAR KE (1993). I was not aware of the fact that there was one more film by the same name until I came across an audio clip of a beautiful song from that film.

If I were to write that the ‘M’ in Mukesh stands for ‘Magic’, I am sure there will be very few who would disagree. This song – another wonderful duet by Mukesh and Asha Bhosle, is a magic colored with these two voices. A soft and light song of love, from two hearts that are probably finding love for the first time – and that the heart now smiles in happiness, for every reason, and at every pretext.
