Today’s song is from an old film-Billi-1938.

Sometimes, when I have some free time, I just go through the “Talkie Films’ Index”, a book by Hamraz ji and look for odd or comic film titles. I can assure you that one can spend few hours in this process. One gets surprised to see the creativity of the filmmakers in giving titles to their films. In general, the title is expected to reflect the type of the film concerned e.g. ‘Ghar ek Mandir’ clearly indicates that it must be a family drama film or ” Hum sab chor hain” can indicate an entertaining hilarious movie. However, many times the title does not have any far-fetched connection with the story, like the films ” Silky-1984″, ” Rihilla-2007″ or ” Oh, my God-2008″ and 2012″. What would you understand about these films ? Can you guess its type or even the Genre ?

In this article, I am taking up a rare song from ‘Sharaarat’ (1944) which I had uploaded on one of the video sharing platforms about 6 years back for covering on the Blog. However, it got delayed because I was not sure of the playback singer of the song. In the milieu, I completely forgot to follow it up. A few days back, I heard this song on the website which reminded me of a long pending post which I am taking up.

Today’s song is an excellent but less known and less heard Ghalib Ghazal ( as per HFGK), sung by Kalyani Bai aka Miss Kalyani, for the film Ghazi Salauddin-1939.

Today’s song is from the film Kismatwala-1944.

There was another film with the same Title in 1986. Additionally, there came a film ‘Kismatwali’ in 1947. Thank God, filmmakers did not think of Kismat Wale ka Beta or Beti or Son of Kismat Wali or some other relatives ! The title Kismat was used for films 6 times-in 1943, 56, 68, 80, 95 and 2004. Titles having the word kismat were there in 12 movies from 1935 to 2012. Considering all Kismat titles, every 4 years there was a film having the word Kismat in its title !

Today’s song is from the film Talash-1943. This is one of those films, about which hardly any information is available on the net or in any book. But thank God, at least credits for all the important departments like Banner, Director, MD, Lyricist and all the star cast names are available in HFGK.
