It is popularly believed that Sajjad Hussain composed songs in 14 movies and that his last musical composition came in 1963. That is not correct. Sajjad Hussain composed music in 17 movies and the last time he composed music in a movie was in 1977.

Paayaliyaa baawri baaje

I have no idea about the story line so I am not in a position to understand what is going on in this song. From the bewildered expression on the face of Joy Mukherji in the picturisation, it appears to me that this song is supposedly a suspense song.

“Saaz Aur Aawaaz” (1966) is a movie featuring Joy Mukherji and Saira Bano. I have no idea how this movie fared at the box office, but this movie has some lovely songs in it.

We are used to seeing Nirupa Roy playing roles of mother and Balraj Sahni playing the roles of father in movies. But believe it or not, they too were young once upon a time and they too used to play lead roles in movies.

Umrao Jaan, a legendary courtesan of Lucknow was made immortal by the movie “Umrao Jaan” (1981) where Rekha played the title role. The songs of this movie are some of the most well known mujra songs of all time.
