“Laal Pari”(1954) was produced by Gulshan Bahl and directed by Kedar Kapoor for N C Films, Bombay. The movie had Shakeela, Mahipal, Kuldeep Kaur, Ramayan Tiwari, B. M. Vyas, Helen, Maruti, Johnny Walker etc in it.
Asad Bhopali was the lyricist and Hansraj Bahl, brother of producer Gulshan Bahl was the music director.

Today’s song is from a ‘C’ grade film Laal pari-1954.
Produced by Gulshan Behl under the banner of ” N.C.Films”, Bombay, the film was the Debut film of the director Kedar Kapoor. The music was by Hansraj Behl and the songs were written by Asad Bhopali. Producer Gulshan Behl was the brother of Music Director Hansrsj Behl. The banner was started in the name of their father Nihal Chand (N.C. Films).

Talat Mehmood had sung most of his duet songs mainly with Suraiyya, Geeta Dutt, Lata Mangeshkar, Asha Bhonsle and Sudha Malhotra. I get a feel of an affinity between the singers on the one hand and the actors on the screen on the other hand when I listen to Talat Mehmood-Geeta Dutt duets. This combination is pleasing to my ears and gives credence to what is intended in the lyrics. The song which comes to my mind in this context is ‘armaan bhare dil ki lagan tere liye hai’ from JAAN PEHCHAAN (1950).
