Today’s song is from film Masoom-41, the first among the three same title films made later in 1960 and 1996. I was tempted but I am not counting the funny title ” Masoom Chudail” made in 2000 !

“Maasoom” (1960) was directed by Satyen Bose for Bani Roop Chitra. The movie had Ashok Kumar, Sarosh Irani, Aziz, Honey Irani, Anuva Gupta, Manmohan Krishna, Mohan Choti, Chaman Puri, Bhagwan Sinha, Keshto Mukherjee, Master Nissar, Jeevankala, Gautam, Bir Sakuja etc in it.

Today is 26 january 2015 which is an important day in the history of India. Today we are celebrating the 66th year of India becoming a republic. It is a historical day indeed, because it was on this day that people of India began to be governed by a constitution. This constitution, for the first time in the history of India, declared that all Indians, irrespective of their caste, creed and other factors were equal and that the country was going to be governed by People’s representatives elected through elections.

Do naina aur ek kahaani

“Masoom” (1982) was inspired from “Man, Woman and Child written” by Erich Segal. And it must be said that the tale was very well adapted by Gulzar who wrote the screenplay and directed with great sensitivity and understanding by Shekhar Kapoor. There were few people in the audience who remained unmoved by the plight of eight year old Rahul (played by Jugal Hansraj), a result of one night affair between an unwed Bhawna (played by Supriya Pathak) and a happily married DK (Naseeruddin Shah) at Nainital at a time when DK’s wife Indu (Shabana Azmi) is expecting their first child. DK goes back home and has a happy family life with two daughters Pinky (Urmila Matondkar) and Minni (Aradhana).
