“Jahaan Ara” (1964) was a movie based on the life of Jahaan Ara,daughter of Emperor Shahjahaan. The movie, when it was released , was a monumental failure, and the movie was withdrawn from movie halls in less than a week.

“Night in London” (1967) is a movie that was clearly inspired from “An Evening in Paris” (1966). “Night in Paris” (1967) had Vishwajeet and Mala Sinha (as against Shammi Kapoor and Sharmila Tagore in “An Evening in Paris”). On the music front, “Night in London” had the fast rising Laxmikant Pyarelal.

By now, most music lovers who are a regular of this blog must have come to the same conclusion about Chitragupta as I have concluded- that he was a grossly underrated and underutilised music director. I am aware about this movie called “Dillagi” (1949) which was replete with timeless evergreen songs. It turns out that there is another movie of the same name that was released in 1966.

I have noticed that Hindi movies rarely show actors keeping pets like say cats and dogs. When I was growing up in 1960s and 1970s, most Indian families regarded keeping pets a luxury that average families could ill afford. Then there were people who were superstitious and they thought that a cat especially black one crossing their path was inauspicious. Only villains would keep pets in Hindi movies.
