Posted on: March 8, 2011

“Phir Subah Hogi” (1958) is a movie starring Raj Kapoor and Mala Sinha. This movie has a thought provoking story as well as thought provoking songs in it.

I have discussed three songs from this movie in the past. Here is another song. This is a romantic duet sung by Mukesh and Asha Bhonsle. It is picturised on Raj Kapoor and Mala Sinha. Khayyam is the music director.

Sahir Ludhianvi is the lyricist. Today, 8th march happens to be his date of birth and today this blog celebrates Sahir Ludhianvi’s birthday by discussing songs penned by him. So, here is this Sahir Ludhianvi creation from “Phir Subah Hogi” (1958).

Song-Phir na keeje meri gustaakh nigaahi ka gilaa (Phir Subah Hogi) (1958) Singers-Mukesh, Asha Bhonsle, Lyrics-Sahir Ludhianvi, MD-Khayyam

Lyrics

aap ke dil ne kayi baar pukaaraa mujhko

is kadar pyaar se dekho na hamaari jaanib
dil agar aur machal jaaye to mushqil hogi
tum jahaan meri taraf dekh ke ruk jaaoge

kitne armaan jagaa deti hai tumhe kyaa maaloom
rooh bechain hai kadmon se lipatne ke liye
tumko har saans bulaati hai tumhe kyaa maaloom

har nazar aap ki jazbaat ko uksaati hai
main agar haath pakad loon to khafaa mat honaa
