Today (14 december 2014) is the 90th birth anniversary of Raj Kapoor (14 december 1924- 2 June 1988). On this occasion, here is a song from “Ab Dilli Door Nahin”(1957). This movie was produced by Raj Kapoor and directed by Amar Kumar for R K Films. The movie had Romi, Motilal, Sulochana Latkar, Yakub, Anwar Hussain, Nand Kishore, Jagdeep, Brij Sharma, C.S.Dubey, Shivaji Rathore, Manohar Gir,Om Prakash, Mohan Choti, Suraj Prakash, Baby Chand aka Nazima, Amjad(later to become the famous villain Amjad Khan), Pappu, Ghansham, Ram Kumar, Tillu, Chandan Mukherji with Guest Artistes viz Iftikhar,Hari Shivdasani,Budo Adwani,Nana Palsikar,Bhupendra Kapur etc. in it.

“Do Phool” (1958) was directed by A R Kardar for Silver Wings Productions. The movie had Baby Naaz,Romi, Vijaya Chowdhary, Bipin Gupta, Ullhas, Jeevan, Pratima Devi, Rajan Haksar, Neelam, Ameer Banoo, Mumtaz Begum, Bannerji, Nasreen, Tiloo, Amir Ali, Agha, David Abraham etc in it.

“Do Phool” (1958) was a Silver Wings presentation. This movie was directed by Kardar. The movie had David, Agha, Jeevan, Baby Naaz, Master Romi, Vijaya Choudhury, Bipin Gupta, Ulhas, Pratima Devi, Rajan Haksar, Neelam, Amir Baanu, Mumtaz Begum, Banerjee, Nasreen, Amir Ali, Tiloo etc in it.

“Ab Dilli Door Nahin” (1957) is a moving tale about orphan kids. The movie and its songs are in fact so poignantly picturised that I cannot bear to watch the movie. For that matter, I can rarely bear the watch the picturisation of a few songs too.

India is celebrating her independence day today. This independence is a result of great struggle and sacrifice, and it is upto the young generation to keep the national flag high and take the nation forward in its quest for progress.
Here is a patriotic song from “Ab Dilli Door Nahin” (1957) that exhorts kids to feel proud of their nation which belongs to them and who will have to shoulder the responsibility of the nation in future.

“Heidi” is a world famous children’s novel, written by the Swiss author Johanna Spyri. First published in 1880, it carried a tag line “For children and those who love children’. ‘Heidi’ is one of the most enduring works of children’s literature, being one of the most popular children books in the twentieth century. Even after 130+ years, the story still reads very fresh and has not lost its charm over the decades. My own first introduction to this work was probably at the age of 6 or 7, when I read a Hindi translation of this work, and got to read the English version later.

I am aware of two movies called “Do Phool”. One such movie was released in 1958 and another in 1973. I have discussed songs from both these movies.

I was aware of a movie called “Do Phool” (1973) but it now I have come to know that there was another movie of this name in 1958. This movie “Do Phool”(1958) is far more obscure that its 1973 namesake. This movie was obviously a B grade movie with no saleable stars in it.
