These two lines of a song from film BAAGHI (1953) sum up the realities of our life. This song penned by Majrooh Sultanpuri and coming out of the magical combination of Lata-Madan Mohan was long overdue to be discussed in this blog. One song from this film has been discussed more than a year back.

Sohrab Modi has presented a series of very powerful and very well made movies, which include both historical epics (Sikander, Pukar, Jhansi Ki Rani, Prithvi Vallabh, Mirza Ghalib, Nauserwan-e-Adil, Raaj Hatth etc.) and contemporary social dramas (Kundan, Meetthaa Zeher, Talaaq, Jailor etc.) Sheesh Mahal belongs to the latter category of his productions.

“Anokhi Ada” to me was a movie of 1970s starring Jeetendra and Vinod Khanna, but I came to know that there was another movie of this name in 1948 too. Why did these oldtimers choose the same name as a new movie and then had some boring music in that- this is what I used to think in 1970s.
