I am going down memory lane, to my school days. We would come back from school at 3:30 p.m. and at that time Vividh Bharati would be silent till 5:30 p.m. So we would put on the radio and searching for songs, invariably we found All India Radio (Urdu service) where they broadcast the programme “aap ki farmaish” which continued till 5 o’clock.

There have been several movies called “Majboor”. I have discussed songs of movies of this name that were released in 1964 and 1974. The oldest “Majboor” was released in 1948 itself, though.

Roshan made his debut at nearly the same time as most legendary singers (Rafi, Mukesh, Kishore Kumar etc). But is is interesting to note that Roshan used Kishore Kumar’s voice only 8 times, all all these songs were in 1952 and 1953.

Aayi hai deewali

I am surprised to note that there are very few Deewali songs in Bollywood movies unlike say Holi or Raakhi songs. One needs to go back many decades to look for deewali songs in Bollywood movies .
