I said ” Semi Mythological” film and there is a reason for it. Both Ramayan and Mahabharat are more than 5000 year old. Since generations,Indians have been infatuated with the various stories from these sacred books. Actually, Mahabharat is 4 times bigger than Ramayan. Ramayan contains stories of Loyalty, Obedience, righteous behaviour. Ideal Human Qualities, war against evil, Ideal democracy and good Just Governance. In short-everything that is ideal and good.

Today’s song is from the film Taramati-45. This is an obscure film. None of its songs are available on YouTube or with Saregama. I was lucky to get hold of this rare song from one of my friends. Taramati-45 was produced by Ramniklal Shah, under his banner Ramnik Films. Yes, he is the same Ramniklal Shah, who married actress Indurani. Ramnik productions were known to make action/stunt films or C grade adventure films. Sometimes they would go for Mythological films. Actually, this was their first Mythological film.

“Raajraani Damyanti”(1952) was a mythological movie which was produced by Mahipat Rai Shah-Anupchand Shah and directed by Raja Nene for Roopkamal Chitra, Bombay. The movie had Nirupa Roy, Trilok Kapoor, Usha Kiran, Vikas, Baby Tabassum, Ratan Kumar, Prakash, Vasant Kaanse, Shakeela, Shakuntala, Uma Devi, Yashwant Dave, Ram Singh etc in it.

“Shrikrishn Satyabhama”(1951) also known as “Paarijaatak” was produced by P K Pathak and directed by Raja Paranjpe for Manik Studio, Poona. This mythological movie had Shahu Modak, Poornima, Hansa, Anant Marathe, Nimbalkar, Vasantrao Pahalwan etc in it.

In my pursuit of films with ‘similar titles’, I discovered a movie of 1949 called ‘Maaya Baazaar’. So far, as per information available online I could see that there are three films with the title ‘Maaya Baazaar’ and they were released in 1949, 1958 and 1971.
