These days, I have been posting songs from “Magroor” (1950). So far I have posted three songs from this movie. One of them is a serious song, another is a romantic song and yet another is a light hearted song. All these songs are rare gems.

Like in any other fields of activities, momentum matters a lot in a blog like this where regular posting of songs is a given. When I am cruising at a rate of six-seven songs in a day, it looks all to simple and comfortable. But often I hit a roadblock, and I find this momentum lost and then the energy needed to get back to the earlier pace takes some doing.

Ever since Bollywood movies came into being, gossiping about the movies personalities and about their controversies have been a major activity of movie magazaines and other such publications. Often, some author would write something about some person purely from his fertile imagination and that would then become gospel for all times to come.

It is a well known fact that the second movie of Roshan, viz. “Baawre Nain” (1950) was a musical blockbuster and Roshan was on his way after this movie.

When “Neki aur Badi” (1949), the first movie of Roshan as a music director flopped, the sensitive music director was so disappointed that he reportedly wanted to commit suicide. Kidar Sharma, who gave him his first break, gave him his second break too, in “Baawre Nain” (1950). The songs of this movie became popular and Roshan, as they say, never looked back since.

“Baawre Nain” (1950) was the second movie as a music director for Roshan. Learning from his mistakes as a music director in his first movie, Roshan made amends, and came up with such an amazing musical score in this movie that the brand name of Roshan was launched with this movie. Till today, his descendents have been using the name Roshan ( which was the first name of Roshalal Nagrath) as a surname and as a brand name. And this brand name first got recognition in 1950 with this movie.
