A qawwaali with a difference. In that the performers on screen are not sitting down, but are prancing around in a completely free format. “Jahaan Ara” (1964) is a movie that was a resounding flop at the box office which came as a severe jolt to Madan Mohan who had composed some fantastic songs in this movie.

“Suhaag Sindoor”(1961) is the kind of movie which is unremarkable, does some modest business and is then forgotten with time. if such movies get remembered in future, then it is mainly because of some crazy 🙂 people who dig up movies like this in search of some nice songs in them.

Yesterday I was unable to discuss songs because I was out of town. In these days of connectivity, I should have been able to have access to internet from most places. But that is easier said than done. The kind of connectivity that is needed for this blog and which I take for granted is a luxury that is not available in many places that I sometimes have to visit. As a result, I was unable to even access this blog, or for that matter internet itself. I am back after 24 hours, but it feels like I have been away for a lifetime. 🙂
