INDRAASAN (Ekaadashi Mahima) (1952) appears to an obscure movie. In a few places on the internet, the film is spelled as ‘Indrasen’. I went by how the film was spelled on the publicity photographs of some scenes from the film. The film had some well-known actors of the 30s and 40s consisting of Prem Adib, Paro Devi, Ishwarlal, Durga Khote, Nand Kishore, Ranjana etc. The film was produced under the banner of Greenland Pictures, Bombay and was directed by Raja Nene.

“Kavita” (1944) is by now a forgotten movie and hardly any details of this movie are available now. From the little that is available on internet, it would seem that this movie was directed by Mahesh Chandra and this movie had Ratnamala and Umakant in it (and not necessarily as the lead pair of the movie).

This is the second song of my trio of tribute to Mohammed Rafi sahab on the occassion of his 33rd Death Anniversary.

This song is chosen for its beginning with the alphabet ‘B’. It is a solo song from the obscure film called ‘Ghoonghat”(1946). There is no information on the imdb website about this film.

Growing up in India, one of the memorable numbers that I heard in my childhood on the two sides of a 78 rpm gramophone record from my late father’s collection was “Bhaarat ki ek sannari ki hum katha sunaate hain” in Vijay Bhatt’s seminal Ram Rajya (1943).
