‘Talaash’ (1957) was produced by Daulatram and I M Anand and was directed by Vishram Bedekar. The star cast included Ashok Kumar, Beena Rai, Ameeta, Raj Mehra, Mridula, Radhika, Chaman Puri, Bhushan Tiwari, Nazir Kashmiri, Heera Sawant etc. Gajanan Jagirdar and Yakub made their guest appearances in the film.

In the last 2 decades, I have preferred watching films that interest me on video sharing platforms or on OTT. ‘Talaash’ (2012) was one of few films I have watched in a multiplex upon its release after reading the ‘very good’ reviews of the film. And I was not disappointed. The film was a slow gainer on the box office front. Eventually, the film became a ‘semi hit’. Recently, I watched the film on OTT platform to recapitulate its story which I now feel is a complex one.

“Talaash” (1957) was a Anand Films, Bombay production. It was directed by Vishram Bedekar. The star cast included names like Ashok Kumar, Bina Rai, Jagirdaar, Yaakoob, Ameeta, Raj Mehra, Jamal, Mridula, Radhika, Chaman Puri, Sushil Gupta, Eruch Tarapore, Shakuntala, Pal Sharma, Rajesh Sharma, Rajan Kapoor, Ramlal, Master Chhotu, Tiwari, Maqbool, Nazir Kashmiri, Heera Sawant etc in it, Mumtaz Ali etc.

S D Burman was not only an outstanding music director, he had a unique singing voice too which he utilised very fruitfully. He would sing sparingly, but the few songs that he sang all went on to become immortal.
