#the Decade of Fifties – 1951 – 1960 #
————————————————
In this post I am presenting a song from the movie ‘Taajposhi-1957’. This movie had made its debut on the blog long back on 03.01.2014. No songs from this movie were posted on this blog thereafter; the non-availability of these songs on internet might have been the reason behind this. However, now I noticed that some songs from this movie (if not all) are available on internet. And when I looked for this song which has the voice of Talat Mahmood, and found that it is available, I am taking this opportunity to present it here.
This song is a duet song in the voices of Asha Bhonsle and Talat Mahmood.

Here is a “new” song for me in the sense that I heard this song for the first time just recently. This song is from a movie called “Sansaar” (1951).

Some time back, I had compiled a list of rail songs. It had about 20 odd songs and I thought that I had all the rail songs covered. That list of songs is still there in my other ( by now rather defunct) blog.

I thought I had already posted this song. It is only when I checked up that I realised that I had posted two other songs from this movie, but not this one.

Most of Madan Mohan movies were made by struggling movie makers with lesser known actors. In some cases, Madan Mohan worked with bigger names too, but that was either before these people actually became stars ( viz Amitabh Bachchan in “Parwana”) or after they had run their courses ( viz Dev Anand in “Sahib Bahadur”). The first movie where Madan Mohan got to work with big name actors was in “Madhosh” (1952) which had Raj Kapoor and Nargis. Unfortunately this movie did not do well at the box office.

Madan Mohan, who made his debut as a music director in 1950, began to deliver classy songs right from his debut movie viz “Ankhen”. His subsequent movie, viz “Madhosh” saw Madan Mohan create a remarkable song in the voice of Talat Mahmood.

“Sujata” (1959) was a sad movie, from whatever little I have gathered about it. I have not been able to watch it ( I cannot stand sad movies) but its music is a different matter altogether. S D Burman created some immortal music in this movie.
