atul's bollywood song a day- with full lyrics

Main jahan chala jaaun bahaar chali aaye

Posted on: September 29, 2008

Here is a very catchy song from a by now forgotten movie called “Banphool”. Kishore Kumar sang this song with gusto. Lyrics were written by Anand Bakshi and the music was a typically racy Laxmikant Pyarelal tune.

How do I classify this song ? There are a few songs in this blog that I call “car songs” because they were sung while riding a car. Here the hero Jeetendra sings this song riding an elephant. ;)

It is a song that appears tailormade for dancing. But I am not aware if youths in those days shook their backsides on the tune of this song. Here is a chance for dancing minded people to discover ( or rediscover, as the case may be) this wonderful song.

Song- Main jahan chala jaaun bahaar chali aaye (Banphool) (1971) Singer-Kishore Kumar, Lyrics-Anand Bakshi, MD- Laxmikant Pyarelal

Lyrics

ho ho ho ho ho
main jahaan chalaa jaaun
main jahaan chalaa jaaun
bahaar chali aaye
ho mahak gaye raahon ki dhool
main banphool ban kaa phool
main jahaan chalaa jaaun
bahaar chali aaye
ho mahak gaye raahon ki dhool
main banphool ban kaa phool
ho ho ho ho ho

bairi badaa zamaanaa
haan ho kadar meri naa jaanaa
bairi badaa zamaanaa
kadar meri naa jaanaa
kisi ki bhi aankhon ne
mujhe nahin pahchaanaa
duniyaa gayi mujhko bhool
main banphool ban kaa phool
main jahaan chalaa jaaun
bahaar chali aaye
ho mahak gaye raahon ki dhool
main banphool ban kaa phool

phirun re main banjaaraa
haan ho dagar-dagar aawaaraa
phirun re main banjaaraa
dagar-dagar aawaaraa
kisi dilwaale ka dhoondhun main sahaaraa
mujhe koyi kar le qubool
main banphool ban kaa phool
main jahaan chalaa jaaun
bahaar chali aaye
ho mahak gaye raahon ki dhool
main banphool ban kaa phool
ho ho ho

I remember seeing this movie as a young boy. I don’t remember the story anymore though I think the villain was Shatrughan Sinha.

I remember this song very well. It is not the type of song you forget easily. Like you say, pretty catchy.

So Jeetu has sung an elephant song (Banphool), a ghoda-gaadi song (Parichay), a boat song (O maajhi re) a truck song (Mere Humsafar), a medley song (Caravan) and I am sure there will also be a cycle song and car song if we think hard enough. :-) Maybe even a plane song.

I never thought in those lines, but now you are giving me ideas.

Pal do pal ka saath humaara from “The Burning Train” had Jeetu and Neetu singing, where else, but in a train!! :)
