Simple plain words can sometimes create good lyrics. And Gulzar was one lyricist who could create magical lyrics out of simple words, and here is a wonderful example of his lyrical wizardry. Follow the lyrics carefully, and one notices how well they express the feelings of joy that the lady is experiencing.
Lata has sung this song with some passion, and R D Burman has suitably tempered the exuberance of his music.
The movie was a simple and sensitive portrayal of an ordinary couple with ordinary dreams and aspirations. And this was a movie that was loved by discerning audience.
This movie was a turning point in Rekha’s career. From an immature actress, who was throwing her career away, she matured almost overnight with this movie, got a complete makeover physically as well at temperamentally and she never looked back since.

Atul’s Song A Day- A choice collection of Hindi Film & Non-Film Songs

This song also brings back memories.
I remember this movie changing my opinion of Rekha. Till then I really did not like her very much but in this movie she was amazing. Very different, more mature role from her – and she put up a fantastic performance.
The songs in this film are very good – Gulzar excels as does RD.
