Wow ! Here is yet another forgotten gem that I discovered just now.
It is from a movie called “Tamasha” (1952). It was a movie that starred Dev Anand opposite a very young Meena Kumari when she had yet to discover tragedy roles. Here she is seen playing a happy role.
This song is sung by Geeta Dutt. I never knew that such a song existed. Now that I have listened to this song, I am just floored. I am also amazed that such a song should stay forgotten for so long.
This song is written by Bharat Vyas. The original music director of this movie was Khemchand Prakash, but he died before he could compose any of the songs. The songs were composed by Manna Dey and S K Pal. This song was composed by Manna Dey.
That way, it is truly a rare gem. A song composed by Manna Dey is a rare commodity.
I have found out that this movie has some other forgotten gems as well. So keep watching this blog for some more pleasant surprises from this movie.
