on:One of the most lovable category of songs are those that I call “mental massage” category. These are basically sweet, melodious songs with simple lyrics and minimal music that do not tax one’s mental faculties and make one feel relaxed .
Salil Chaudhary is one such music director. Listening to his music is a very effective way of finding mental relaxation . Here is a very good example of the kind of song I refer to. This song is from “Parakh” (1960). Lovely lyrics by Shailendra, nicely sung by Lata and picturised on Sadhana who plays a simple village belle here.
Songs like this makes you yearn for the days where life was so simple and relaxed where one could find pleasure in small things in life. This song is bound to cheer you up.

This song is like a sweet dream from my childhood. I still remember I was in school when I first watched this song on TV. Till this day I have not forgotten it. Thank you very much for taking me back to my childhood.

I can remember a rainy day in Nainital, listening to this song on a tiny little radio, sipping hot milk and eating some hot snacks! This song and the other one, O sajna …, were on the air all the time during that week, and my mother used to hum these two songs. She really liked these two songs and used to sing them even after many years. Thanks for the memories and the beautiful song, Atul!
