Saajan ki ot leke

Posted on: May 23, 2010

“Zewaraat” (1949) is an obscure movie by now. From the little information that I could ferret out about this movie, this movie had Meena (Shorey ?), Masood (?), Yaaqub etc in it.

Here is a very fine song from this movie. It is a duet sung by Lata and Rafi. Habib Sarhadi is the lyricist and Hansraj Behl is the music director.

This song is easily one of the earlist duets of Lata and Rafi, and what a nice song it is ! It was a very popular song in its days. Now this song is a very rare song to come across.

Here is this rare gem from “Zewaraat” (1949).

Song-Saajan ki ot leke (Zewaraat) (1949) Singers-Lata, Rafi, Lyrics-Habib Sarhadi, MD-Hansraj Behl

Lyrics

saajan ki ot leke
haathon mein haath leke
koi hamen na dekhe
koi hamen na dekhe
lalalalalalala
dil se neeren bahaake
hamko dukhdaa sunaake
todo na dil lagaake
todo na dil lagaake
lalalalalala

aankhen ab pher na lenaa
hamse mu mod na lena
hamse mu mod na lena
dekho ji chhod na denaa
dekho ji chhod na denaa
saajan ki ot leke
haathon mein haath leke
koi hamen na dekhe
koi hamen na dekhe
lalalalalalala

dil ki naiyya banaaun
jisme tumhe bithaaun
jisme tumhe bithaaun
duniyaaa se door jaaun
duniyaaa se door jaaun
saajan ki ot leke
haathon mein haath deke
koi hamen na dekhe
koi hamen na dekhe
lalalalalala

ye duniyaa chhod jaayen
nayi duniyaa basaayen
nayi duniyaa basaayen
khushiyon ke geet gaayen
khushiyon ke geet gaayen
saajan ki ot leke
haathon mein haath deke
koi hamen na dekhe
koi hamen na dekhe
lalalalalalala

tum ho jeewan ko pyaare
man gaaye tum hamaare
man gaaye tum hamaare
ho gaye ham tumhaare
ho gaye ham tumhaare
saajan ki ot leke
haathon mein haath deke
koi hamen na dekhe
koi hamen na dekhe
lalalalalala

The music has the shade of Husnalal-Bhagatram effect.
