Toote huye armaanon ki ik duniyaa basaaye

Posted on: August 12, 2010

Indian independence also brought partition, and it caused human suffering on a large scale. Quite a few movies were made on this subject. “Lahore” (1949), starring Karan Dewan and Nargis was one of the first such movies on this subject.

I have already posted a few songs from this movie. Here is another song. This song is sung by Lata and it is picturised on Nargis.

Rajinder Krishan is the lyricist and Shyam Sundar composed the music.

Farmaish for this song was given by Sid.

Song-Toote huye armaanon ki duniyaa basaaye (Lahore) (1949) Singer-Lata, Lyrics- Rajinder Krishan, MD-Shyam Sundar

Lyrics

toote huye armaanon ki ik duniyaa basaaye
toote huye armaanon ki ik duniyaa basaaye
baithi hoon teri yaad ko seene se lagaaye
toote huye armaan

tu door hai nazron se
tu door hai nazron se
khushi door hai dil se
khushi door hai dil se
tu aaye to phir meri khushi laut ke aaye
baithi hoon teri yaad ko seene se lagaaye
toote huye armaanon ki ik duniyaa basaaye
toote huye armaan

is dar se ke duniyaa kahin
majboor na kar de
majaboor na kar de
palkon se larajte huye aansoo na bahaaye
baithi hoon teri yaad ko seene se lagaaye
toote huye armaanon ki ik duniyaa basaaye
toote huye armaan

ik qaid hai gham ki
ik qaid hai gham ki ye judaayi kaa zamaanaa
judaayi kaa zamaanaa
aajaa ke gham mujhse kahin jeet na jaaye
toote huye armaanon ki ik duniyaa basaaye
toote huye armaan

Bautiful Song by Lata-ji. This was pre “Barsaat/Mahal” success.

Magic of Rajinder Krishan, Shyam Sundar & Lata-ji.

Thanks for posting.

I saw one song ‘Ek aas bandhai jaati hai’ sung by Lata. It is supposed to be from ‘Lahore’. I have the full movie with me but cannot find this song anywhere. Was this song removed from the film ? or is it from some other film ?

I suppose you are right, Ek Aas Bandhaye Jaati Hai’ is indeed from Lahore. May be it was deleted from your CD to fit in the movie. Here is the you tube link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1r7C0CJxCsk
