Dil mein chhupaa ke pyaar ka toofaan le chale

Posted on: August 17, 2010

I have posted several songs from “Aan” (1952) and I thought I had posted this one too, but when I was looking at the list of old farmaishes, I found that I had yet to post this song.

So here is this chariot song from “Aan” (1952) where Dilip Kumar drives a chariot with a stern faced Nadira (she maintain such fierce mien throughout the movie) as the reluctant passenger. In this movie, Dilip Kumar devotes considerable energy trying to break down the resistance of Nadira and win her over. I personally think that one should not waste one’s time in dealing with such women. 🙂

Rafi is the singer. Shakeel Badayuni wrote the lyrics and Naushad composed the music which sounds so much like O P Nayyar kind of music but for the fact that O P Nayyar had not yet made his debut as a music director at that time.

Song-Dil mein chhupaake pyaar kaa toofaan le chale (Aan) (1952) Singer-Rafi, Lyrics-Shakeel Badayuni, MD-Naushad

Lyrics

dil mein chhupaa ke pyaar kaa toofaan le chale
ham aaj apni maut kaa saamaan le chale
maut kaa saamaan le chale
dil mein chhupaa ke pyaar kaa toofaan le chale

ha ha aa
aa aa aa
mitataa hai kaun dekhiye
ulfat ki raah mein
he he he
ulfat ki raah mein
mitataa hai kaun dekhiye
ulfat ki raah mein
wo le chale hain aan to ham jaan le chale
maut kaa saamaan le chale
dil mein chhupaa ke pyaar kaa toofaan le chale

ha ha aa
aa aa aa
manzil pe hogaa faislaa
qismat ke khel kaa
aa aa aa
qismat ke khel kaa
manzil pe hogaa faislaa
qismat ke khel kaa
kar de jo dil kaa khoon wo mehmaan le chale
maut kaa saamaan le chale
dil mein chhupaa ke pyaar kaa toofaan le chale

I like this song a lot. When I was a little boy, I listened to a programme once with songs of Aan and Andaaz. That is how I learnt of songs like this one. And of course Andaaz songs like “jhoom jhoom ke naacho” and “tu kahe agar”. I fell totally in love with the songs of these movies. 🙂
