I have mentioned it that this blog has songs from nearly 1000 Hindi movies as of now. The list of moviewise songs that I have provided gives us a good idea of the songs that have been posted. With time, I have posted all the songs from some movies- viz “Barsaat”(1949), “Dholak”(1950), “Madhumati” (1958) etc. In case of other movies, I am gradually building up the list song by song.
Sometimes readers of the blog also go though the list and point out the songs missing from the list. And that has been a great help for me in posting the missing songs.
For instance, I have posted several songs from “Kaali Topi Laal Roomaal” (1959), but I was not aware that I had not posted a well known song from this movie. In fact, I was not even aware that the song in question belnged to this movie.
Now that Sid has pointed out this missing song, here is this song.
This song “Laagi chhoote naa ab to sanam” is a duet sung by Rafi and Lata. It is picturised on Chandrashekhar, a quintessential C grade hero and Shakila (who worked in a few A grade movies like CID, but then found herself acting in C grade movies). The music is of course A grade. Majrooh Sultanpuri is the lyricist and Chitragupta is the music director.

What a wonderful song. How could I have even forgotten this gem. Thank you Atul Ji and Sid Ji, I cannot thank you enough for bringing back my childhood memory of listening to this song. I am going to have a BIG smile on my face all day today :).

laagi na chhoote chaahe jiya jaaye
