Halke halke chalo saanwre

Posted on: February 3, 2011

I have heard of a movie called “Taangaawaala” of 1970s, but I was not aware that there was a movie called “Taangaawaali” too, which in fact came some two decades prior to “Taangaawaala”. In any case, I have not discussed any songs from either movie in this blog so far.

I just discovered that “Taangaawaali” (1955) had actors like Shammi Kapoor, Anita Guha,Balraj Sahni, Nirupa Roy, Jayant, Gope in it. So this is one of the earlier Shammi Kapoor movies whose prints seems to have been lost with ravages of time.

Fortunately the audio of songs of this movie are still available. And the songs of this movie are gems. I will be discussing the songs from this movie in the days to come.

Here is a song from this movie. It is a duet sung by Lata and Hemant Kumar. From the star cast, I can guess that this song was picturised on Anita Guha and Shammi Kapoor. Prem Dhawan is the lyricist and music is composed by Salil Chaudhary.

Here is this lovely song, whose music is reminiscent of the music of O P Nayyar, except that the female voice is that of Lata rather than that of Asha Bhonsle. I guess that this movie was picturised aboard a taangaa, but I will not know for sure. I request my knowledgeable readers, who may have seen this movie in the distant past to tell us about the picturisation of this song.

Song-Halke halke chalo saanwre (Taangawaali) (1955 ) Singer-Lata,Hemant Kumar, Lyrics-Prem Dhawan,MD-Salil Chaudhary

Lyrics

halke halke chalo saanwre
pyaar ki mast hawaaon mein
dil ko ye dar hai
pahlaa safar hai
in albeli raahon mein
halke halke chalo saanwre

halke halke chalaa naa jaaye
pyaar ki mast hawaaon mein
jab tak hai dam
chalo chalen ham
daal ke baanhen baanhon mein

badhne lagi dil ki dhadkan
dol rahaa kyun meraa tan-man,
haay meraa tan-man
badhne lagi dil ki dhadkan
dol rahaa kyun meraa tan- man,
haay meraa tan -man
tu hi bataa
chain kahaan jab laagi lagan
dil bhi hai teraa,
jaan bhi hai teri
jab se basi ho nigaahon mein
dil bhi hai teraa,
jaan bhi hai teri
jab se basi ho nigaahon mein
halke halke chalo saanwre

tu manzil main raahi teraa
tere binaa kyaa jeenaa meraa,
kyaa jeenaa meraa
tu manzil main raahi teraa
tere binaa kyaa jeenaa meraa,
kyaa jeenaa meraa
toote kabhi naa chhoote kabhi
ye saath piyaa
pyaar ki qasam,
sang rahenge ham
neel gagan ki chhaanv mein
pyaar ki qasam,
sang rahenge ham
neel gagan ki chhaanv mein
halke halke chalo saanwre
pyaar ki mast hawaaon mein
dil ko ye dar hai
pahlaa safar hai
in albeli raahon mein
halke halke chalaa naa jaaye
pyaar ki mast hawaaon mein
jab tak hai dam
chalo chalen ham
daal ke baanhen baanhon mein
aaa aaa aaa
aaa aaa aaa
hmm hmm hmm
hmm hmm hmm

If you look closely, Raja, that link you posted features Vyjayantimala and Shammi and their lips are not synching to this song. I am intrigued about the ‘original’ song of this video.

Found the original, the video was from the film College Girl http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lrLuSNGs_vY I must say the person who created the above video was very very skillful.

Oh thanks! I did notice that the audio and video were going out-of-sync but I thought something was better than nothing. This one’s much better.
