Atul’s Song A Day- A choice collection of Hindi Film & Non-Film Songs

Jaan gayi hoon pehchaan gayi hoon

Posted on: June 12, 2011

“Teen Bhai” (1955) is not a movie too many people may be aware of. Its songs are equally obscure.

Obscure they may be, but even obscure movie can surprise us (pleasantly) with some wonderful songs in them.

Here is a lovely song from “Teen Bhai” (1955). It is sung by Geeta Dutt. Bharat Vyas is the lyricist. Music is composed by Arun Kumar Mukherji.

Only the audio of this song is available, so I am unable to tell how and on whom this song is picturised. I request the knowledgeable readers to throw more light on this movie and on this song.

Song-Jaan gayi hoon pehchaan gayi hoon(Teen Bhai) (1955) Singer-Geeta Dutt, Lyrics-Bharat Vyas, MD-Arun Kumar Mukherji

Lyrics

jaan gayi hoon
pehchaan gayi hoon
jaan gayi hoon
pehchaan gayi hoon
tumhaare nayan ki boli
jaan gayi hoon
pehchaan gayi hoon
tumhaare nayan ki boli

meri galiyon mein jo har roz aate jaate ho
meri galiyon mein jo har roz aate jaate ho
sadaa ye saamne baanki adaa dikhaate ho
palak giraake uthhate jo muskuraate ho
palak giraake uthhate jo muskuraate ho
yoon man ka bhed jo mujhse sajan chhupaate ho
haan
jaan gayi
pehchaan gayi
jaan gayi hoon
pehchaan gayi hoon
tumhaare nayan ki boli
jaan gayi hoon
pehchaan gayi hoon
tumhaare nayan ki boli

jo mujhse tumko huaa pyaar
main karoon ikraar
par tumse mujhko bhi kitna
tumhi kaho hai pyaar
haan kaho dildaar
puraane logon ne hamse kahaa hazaaron baar
puraane logon ne hamse kahaa hazaaron baar
ye bhaar prem ki hai
doobe wohi utre paar
dagar kathin hai hazaaron hain pade sehnaa
dagar kathin hai hazaaron hain pade sehnaa
suno ye baat jo tum chaahte mujhe kehna
haan
jaan gayi
pehchaan gayi
jaan gayi hoon
pehchaan gayi hoon
tumhaare nayan ki boli

Atul ji,
TEEN BHAI was a D.P.Production movie, directed by Hemchander Chunder.
I have seen this movie. It had a “beaten track” story of a wayward young man.Mahesh,Suresh and Naresh are staying together.Suresh(Bharat Bhushan),though married falls in love with a dancer Champa(Shyama). He spends lot of money on her and even tries to fix younger brother Naresh’s marriage with a Barristers daughter(to get a Bakhsish).Naresh is already in love with their tenent’s daughter Krishna. There is a fight in all brothers, they separate and finally unite after a happy ending culminating in a group photo.
This song is shot on Shyama in the film.

Thanks a lot for this information about this obscure movie.

Atul ji,
ARUN KUMAR MUKHERJEE,the M.D. of this movie was originally an assitant to S.D.Burman,before independent work.
He was the cousin of the Ganguly brothers, namely,Ashok,Kishore and Anup Kumar.
He gave music to few Hindi movies, like,Parineeta,Teen Bhai,Samaaj etc,but soon shifted to calcutta to continue his music career.
He sang some songs also as Arunkumar in Hindi, but unfortunately was confused with another Arunkumar and most music sites give credit to the other Arunkumar who was Ahuja-Govinda’s father and Nirmala Devi’s husband.
Looks like that the curse of multiple identical names, creating confusion,is an old one in Hindi Filmdom. This happens due to the notorious habit of not giving all and full names of artists in the credits list.
