“Saahib Bibi Aur Ghulaam” (1962) was a Guru Dutt production movie. It was directed by Abrar Alwi. The movie had actors like Guru Dutt, Meena Kumari, Rehman, Waheeda Rehman, Sapru, Dhumal, N. Hussain, S. N. Banerjee, Krishan Dhawan, Jawahar Kaul, Bikram Kapoor, Pratima Devi, Ranjit Kumari, S. N. Banerjee, Krishan Dhawan, Jawahar Kaul, Bikram Kapoor, Bimla Kumari etc in it.
The movie was a box office success as well as a critically acclaimed movie. Moreover, the movie was a musical blockbuster too. As many as six songs from this movie have been discussed in the past and that included some memorable all time evergreen classic songs.
I am familiar with most better known songs from this movie but it turns out that this movie has “lesser known” songs as well which are just as nice to listen to. Prakashchandra recently sent me the lyrics of one such son which I had never heard before.
Here is this fantastic mujra song from “Saahib Bibi Aur Ghulaam” (1962) which I did not know anuthing about.
The song is sung by Asha Bhonsle and it is picturised on Bimla Kumari who sings this song to her client played by Rehman.
This Bimla Kumari is incidentally the same lady who lipsynced the famous song Hawa me udta jaaye mora laal dupatta malmal kaa(Barsaat) some 13 years earlier.
Shakeel Badayuni is the lyricist. Music is composed by Hemant Kumar.

Sahib Bibi Aur Ghulam has 7 songs. You have posted 5 of them so far; the remaining two are Saqiya Aaj Mujhe Neend Nahi Aayegi, a pulsating, fast paced mujra song by Asha Bhosle with chorus and Koi Door Se, a hauntingly slow, lamenting call by Geeta Dutt. What is amazing is how beautiful each of the seven songs is!.

This means all song of Sahib Bibi aur Ghulam are posted. The movie is not marked Red in the list of songs moviewise.

Bimlakumari of “Barsaat”s “Hawamen udta jaye”did this in”Sahib. Biwi aur ghulam” over 12 years later? I don”t think so!She was way out by then!

Harminder Hamraz does not even mention the famous Minutes Mumtaz in the cast information of the dance “Sakiya aaj mujhay
neend ” !

The starlet in the above clip is BIMLA KUMARI,the actress.
Bimla kumari who was Khurshid in reality was a singer and active only till 1948,after which she went to Pakistan.
The above Bimla Kumari is the same Lal dupatta girl of Barsat,Sunehre Din,Sargam,Shrimatiji and she was Bhagwan’s sister in Albela.She went to Vauhini studios,Madras for work in 1954.After coming back,she did dancer’s role in some films including ‘Do Ustad’-59 and ‘Sahib bibi aur ghulam’-62

Since there were too many Khurshids at that time,this singer Khurshid changed her name to Bimala Kumari,but actress Bimla Kumari appeared in 1949,to continue the confusion in names.

The mujra song in Sahib Bibi aur ghulam was picturised on Minoo Mumtaz, who was a good dancer, and sister of yesteryear comedian Mehmood.
