I have discussed as many as five songs from “Meri Soorat Teri Aankhen” (1963). They are all fantastic songs. And the interesting thing about these songs are, they are sung by different singers (more or less). Just imagine five outstanding songs in a movie sung by Rafi, Lata, Manna Dey, Mukesh ans Suman Kalyanpur !
Now, thanks to the list of movies provided by Mr Arunkumar Deshmukh, I find that this movie has just one song left to be discussed. I looked for that song and guess what ! This is yet another fabulous song and surprise ! surprise ! It is sung by yet another different singer. Six outstanding songs of different genres in six different voices in one single movie ! Absolutely out of this world !
Here is this song from “Mere Soorat Teri Aankhen” (1963). This song is sung by Asha Bhonsle and it is picturised as a club dance song. Too bad that the song is not picturised on Helen otherwise I would have recognised her easily. The actress appears vaguely familiar, but I will need the help of my knowledgeable readers in getting her identified for me. I can only identify Pradeep Kumar seated in a table and puffing away as heroes used to do in such situations where they were not involved in lip syncing in a song.
The lyrics are written by Shailendra. Music is composed by S D Burman. I somehow feel that the music of this song has the stamp of R D Burman in it, who was an assistant to his father those days.
With this, we cover all the six songs of “Mer Soorat Teri Aankhen” (1963). What a musical six songs album this movie has !
