Hamen ae dil kahin le chal

Posted on: July 14, 2012

Today is the birth anniversary of Roshan (14 july 1917- 16 november 1967). In his 18 year long career, which was cut short in his prime, he composed music for 52 movies. This blog has 176 songs from as many as 49 of these movies. It is a matter of time before this blog will have almost all Roshan compositions that are available.

On the occasion of Roshan’s birthday anniversary, here is a song from “Chaandni Chowk” (1954). This song is sung by Mukesh. Majrooh Sultanpuri is the lyricist.

Lyrics of this song were sent to me by Khyati Bhatt.

Song-Hamen ae dil kahin le chal (Chaandni Chowk)(1954) Singer-Mukesh, Lyrics-Majrooh Sultanpuri, MD-Roshan

Lyrics(Provided by Khyati Bhatt)

hamen aye dil kahin le chal
bada tera karam hoga
hamaare dum pe hai har gham
na hum honge na gham hoga
hamen aye dil kahin le chal

khabar kya thhi bahaar aakar
hamaare aashiyaane par
hamaare aashiyaane par
khabar kya thhi bahaar aakar
hamaare aashiyaane par
hamaare aashiyaane par
nayi bijli giraayegi
naya ham par sitam hoga
hamen aye dil kahin le chal
bada tera karam hoga

tamannaaon se badli hai
na badlegi kabhi kismat
na badlegi kabhi kismat
tamannaaon se badli hai
na badlegi kabhi kismat
na badlegi kabhi kismat
likha hai jo muqaddar mein
wohi teri kasam hoga
hamaare dum pe hai har gham
na hum honge na gham hoga
hamen aye dil kahin le chal

Khyati ji, Atul ji

The fact that Roshan passed away just at the age of 40, is a major loss to the Hindi film music. Yet, a treasure trove of 52 films from 18 years of work is quite an accomplishment.

Thanks for posting this wonderful song, have come back to it after a long time. Wonderful reminder.

Was he born in 1927 or in 1917?

Oops and yes, Bluefire ji, you are correct.

I checked out other sources, including Hritik Roshan’s web page. Roshan Nagarath was born in 1917, and his age was 50 when he passed away suddenly in 1967.

Thanks for the correction.
