“Yasmin” (1955) was a Musical Pictures Production. It was directed by A R Kardar. The movie had Suresh, Vyjyantimala, Jayant, Shyam Kumar, S. N. Banerjee, Maruti, Rashid Khan etc in it.
As many as five songs from this movie have been discussed in the past. Here is another song from the movie.
This song is a “missing the beloved” category of song sung by Lata and picturised on Vyjyanti Mala. Jaan Nisaar Akhtar is the lyricist. Music is composed by C Ramchandra.

YASMIN-1955 was a Musical Pictures’ presentation.This company was owned and launched by Kardar and Naushad.They made 5-6 films,out of which,Yasmin was the best,musically.C.Ramchandra had given very lilting tunes and some of the songs were very popular like,Bechain nazar by Talat,muz pe ilzam bewafai hai by Lata etc.
The lead pair was Suresh and Vyjayantimala,with jayant,Ameer,S.N.Banerjee etc in the cast.
Suresh(real name Nazir Ahmed) was a goodlooking ice block in acting.he started his career in 1941 with Anjaan and worked till last film Ganga aur Sooraj.In between he migrated to Pakistan in 1950 and acted in 2 films,Do Kinare-50 and Eid-51.With very lukewarm response he realised his mistake and came back to India and continued to do films again.like his predecessor nasir khan with similar fate,he too was given a second life here.He died somewhere in the early 80s,in a very pathetic and poor condition,in india.
YASMIN-55 story was set in Middle east like many such films in this period.In persia there used to live a rich Shaikh (Jayant) with his wife Zubeida(Mumtaz) and son Ahmed(Suresh).
Zubeida warns the Sheikh that Ahmed is spending too much time with ladies of the Harem and should be put to work.Shaikh gives Ahmed the responsibility to collect his rent from their properties and taxes.
While doing so,Ahmed gets into love with Yasmin a gypsy dancer.The shaikh calls him back to get married to Nadira d/o Ameer Qasim.Ahmed comes back but refuses to marry nadira and runs away to Yasmin.
Yasmin actually belongs to a Gypsy group of thugs led by yusuf(Shyam kumar) who wants her to marry him.
The usual story unfolds how their love succeeds,etc.
