Nazar mere dil ke paar huyee

Today (30 august) is the birth anniversary of Shailenedra (30 august 1923- 14 deceember 1966). It is unimaginable but true that Shailendra lived to an age of only 43 ! The body of work that he had built up by that time was so imposing that he was already a legend by that time.
We in this blog have already discussed as many as 431 songs penned by him. And each one of these songs is a finely crafted gem. No wonder many of these songs have gone on to become timeless classics. Even the songs which ended by becoming forgotten for some reasons deserved to be better known.
On the occasion of Shailendra’s birthday today, here is a song from “Jab Pyaar Kisi Se Hota Hai”(1961). The song is sung by Lata and music is composed by Shankar Jaikishan.
Lyrics of this song were sent to me by Prakashchandra who informs me that he has never seen the video of this song and that makes him suspect that the song was deleted from the movie.
