Song-Shabnam bhi dekheen shola bhi dekha (Shabnam)(1964) Singer-Usha Khanna, Lyrics-Jawed Anwar, MD-Usha Khanna

Lyrics(Provided by Prakashchandra)

shabnam bhi dekheen
sholaa bhi dekhaa
shabnam bhi dekheen
sholaa bhi dekhaa
par teraa jalwaa
bas bas bas
haaan
phoolon ko dekha
bulbul ko dekha
phoolon ko dekha
bulbul ko dekha
par tera jalwaa
bas bas bass
haaan

chalnaa bhi qaatil
ruknaa bhi qaatil
usske nazar ka
jhuknaa bhi qaatil
kam nahin zaalim
teri adaa bhi
tu hai qayaamaat
tu hai bhalaa bhi
ithraanaa dekhaa
sharmaanaa dekha
par tera jalwaa
bas bas bass
haaaan
shabnam bhi dekheen
sholaa bhi dekhaa
par teraa jalwaa
bas bas bas
haaan

aankhon se chhalke
masti hi masti
hamne lutaa dee
apni to hasti
parwaane par hai
shamma deewaani
dekho jee dekho
ulti kahaani
butkhaanaa dekhaa
maikhaanaa dekhaa
par teraa jalwaa
bas bas bas
haaan
shabnam bhi dekheen
sholaa bhi dekhaa
par teraa jalwaa
bas bas bas
haaan

lehraake jab tu
mehfil mein aaye
jhoome suraahi
paimaanaa gaaye
uff allaa allaaha
qaafir nigaahein
chaahat se maare
jissko bhi chaahe
parwaanaa dekha
deewaanaa dekhaa
par teraa jalwa
bas bas bass
haaan
shabnam bhi dekheen
sholaa bhi dekhaa
poochho na hamse
kyaa kyaa na dekhaa
par teraa jalwaa
bas bas bass
haaaan

Atul ji,
SHABNAM-1964 was a Super pictures film, produced and directed by Aspi Irani-an expert hand at handling such films. The MD was Usha Khanna, having Lyrics from Javed Anwar(Javed being Usha Khanna’s father Manoharlalaka M.L.Khanna and Javed being Rahil Gorakhpuri),Prem Dhawan and M.Sultanpuri.
The “original and earth shattering” story was written by C.J.Pavri,who also did the S/Play.The story was ,I am sure, used in atleast 100 odd films so far and i have myself reviewed not less than 5-6 films on this story. The dialogues were by Akhtar ul imaan.
It was a story of a kingdom where the evil CommanderZaber(Jeevan) has an eye on usurping the throne and becoming the king himself. His problem is with the Wazir(Prime Misnister) who is very loyal.
In the kingdom lives Khalifa Haroon(Sh.Mukhtar) who has a daughter-Shabnam,who ia a look alike of the kingdom’s Princess Shubi(Vijayalaxmi). So Haroon is worried and keeps Shabnam always in Burkha. The Wazir’s son is Khan mustafa(mehmood) who is a very timid and spineless character.
The Commander perpretates lot of injustice and looting with the common publik, but there is a Masked saviour of people-Zingaro,who comes and saves the poor and fights with the soldiers.
The Princess is betrothed to Khan Mustafa, but she doesnt like him.She is impressed with the deeds of Zingaro and loves him.(By now clever readers must have understood that Khan mustafa is the Zingaro.Similarly99% of the audience also recognises him,in the theatre).
The commander arrests the King and princess and replaces the princess with Shabnam-the look alike.he would marry Shabnam and declare himself the king.
Khan Mustafa has to rescue the King,Haroon has to rescue his daughter Shabnam,so they join hands and there is a fight in the end when the Commander Zaber is killed, the Royalty rescued and shabnam returned to her father safely. In the process princess has realised that Zingaro and Khan Mustafa are same,so she is happy.

Usha Khanna has total control of her voice and sings effortlessly, but still has a girlish/thin voice here.
