Song-Zabaanen badalte hain (Mandi)(1983) Singer-Asha Bhonsle, Lyrics-Meer Taqi Meer, MD-Vanjraj Bhatia

Lyrics(Provided by Prakashchandra)

zabaanein badalte hain
har aan khubaan
aan khubaan
zabaanein badalte hain

ye sab kuchch hai bigde zamaane ki baatein
bigde zamaane ki baatein
zabaanein badalte hain ae ae ae

hamein gairon kaa baatein kyaa
guftgoo hai
ae ae ae
chali jaati hai yeh
sunaane ki baatein
sunaane ki baatein
bigad bhi chuke yaar haayye
bigad bhi chuke yaar se
hum toh yaaron
karo kuchch aagusse(?)
karo kuchch aggusse(?)
karo kuchch aggusse(?)
uss se banaane ki baatein
zabaanein aen aen aen
zabaanein badalte hain aen aen

kiyaa sair kal maine deewaane majnoo
kiyaa sair kal maine deewaane majnoo
deewaane majnoo
khush aayee bahut
khush aayee bahut
uss deewaane ki baatein
deewaane ki baatein
deewaane ki baatein
deewaane ki baatien
uss deewaane ki baatein
zabaanein badalte hain
har aan khubaan
aan khubaan
zabaanein badalte hain
zabaanein badalte hain aen aen aen

Atul ji
Sorry maine aapko misguide kiyaa, raat ko likhte likte, Ratna pathak Shah ke naam galthi se Supriya pathak sha likh diyaa.

Kulbhushan karbanda jiss ladki ko room se laate hain, woh ladki “Ratna Pathak shah” hai aur usske saath jo elderly lady hai, woh Achlaa nagar nahin hai, woh “Sunila pradhan” hai.

The song was picturised on Smita Patil, Shabana Azmi,Kulbhushan karbanda,Sunila Pradhan, Ratna Pathak Shah, Aditya Bhattacharya.

Aditya Bhattacharya is son of famous movie maker Basu bhattacharya, who made Anubhav,Avishkar,Aasthaa,GrihaPravesh etc.

Aditya Bhattacharya is son of Basu bhattacharya and Rinki Bhattacharya(Daughter of the legendary director Bimal Roy).Aditya bhattacharya directed an experimental movie RAAKH starring Amir khan(then almost a new face), Pankaj Kapur,Supriya Pathak. Once upon a time, he was married to actor Shashi kapoor`s daughter Sanjana Kapoor.

And Thanks Atulji
for posting my favourite song, eventhough Main iss gaane ko kuchch bhi samajh hi nahin paaya hoon. Aaisse hi sunn sunnke (samjhe binaa hi)maine iss gaane ko likhaa. Please correct me, if I have written any words wrongly. Many words of this song are beyond my understanding.

Some information about Mir Taqi Mir :

Meer has been called the Imam (leader/pioneer) of Urdu shayari and this was accepted by the greatest Urdu poets. Shayars of the stature of NaasiKH, GHalib and Zauq used to call him Ustad as is evidenced by these shers:

1. rekhta ke tum hi ustaad nahiN ho “GHalib”
kahte haiN agle zamane meN koi Meer bhi thA
[rekhta = Urdu]
2. “GHalib” apna yeh aqeeda hai ba-qoul-e-NaasiKH
aap be-bahra hai jo motqid-e-Meer nahiN
[ba-qoul-e-NaasiKH = quoting NaasiKH]
[be-bahra = poor]
[motqid-e-Meer = follower of Meer]
na huA par na huA Meer ka andAz naseeb
“Zauq” yaaroN ne bohot zor GHazal meN mara

I found a version of ‘Deewan-e-Meer’ online but, those shairs used in the above song are not there in it. Still i have tried to make sense of them.

zabaanein badalte hain har ‘ aan khubaan ‘
ye sab kuchch hai bigde zamaane ki baatein

aan khubaan – Every now and than

Meaning : People are changing their statements /promises with disregard for their reputation. All these are signs of bad times.

hamein ‘deron’ kaa baatein kyaa guftugoo hai
chali jaati hai yeh sunaane ki baatein

deron – khaana badosh, or those who are not settled in one place.
guftugoo – meaningful conversation.
hamein – us

What is there in the loose talk of us, it has no meaning. It just bounces off the ears of the listeners.

bigad bhi chuke yaar se hum toh yaaron
karo kuchch “ab uss’ se banaane ki baatein

I have spoiled the relations with the beloved. It is time that i do something to restore the earlier bonhomie.

kiyaa sair kal maine deewaane majnoo
khush aayee bahut uss deewaane ki baatein

II have explored the obsessiveness of the beloved. I found happiness in the devotion/single minded attentions of the beloved.

nahm ji

Thank you very much for this information, In fact, parso, main soch rahaa thaa Sudhir ji or nahm ji se request karoon ke iss gaane ke translation ke liye.Phir sochaa nahin unnko taqleef mat denaa chaahiye aur uss vichaar ko aise hi chhod diyaa.

Aapne mere mann ki baat bin bataaye jaan lee. Thank you very very much again.

In fact aaj dopahar “dilbhar aur dilbar” words ke difference ke baare mein padhaa toh, tab bhi mann huaa ke aapko dhanyawaad boloon karke, par kuchch aur kaam mein phans gayaa.

Maaf keejiye der huaa Dhanyawaad kehne mein

Prakash chandra ji,

When i read your comment no. 2, tabhi aap ki vidambana samajh aa gayi thhi. Main bhi soch rahi thhi ki shayad Sudhir Sir agar iss ka anuwad kar den to sahee rahe gaa.

The fact is ‘ Meer ‘ ki shayari thhodi tedhi kheer jaisi lagi mujhe. I was not very familiar with his ghazals. When i was going through ‘Deewane-e-meer’ for last two days, i found his shayari to be very appealing. For this i should thank you.

This is the same poet ‘ Meer ‘ referred by Anand Bakshi in the song ‘Main ne poochha chaand se” (Abdullah)

‘Meer’ ki ghazal kahoon tumhen main
yaa kahoon khayyam ki rubaa’ee

Wow !!!
so much of “Anmol” information.

nahm ji
aapke likhi huyee lines ko padhne se hi hamein bahut unknown infrormation mil jaate hain.

ab mujhe mushkil words samajh mein nahi aayaa toh kidhar jaanaa hai aapne raah dikhaa diyaa , main aapke paas hi aa jaaoongaa

🙂 🙂

Thanks again and again and again for writing to me.
