“Udan Khatola” (1955) was a Sunny Art Production movie. It was produced and directed by S U Sunny. The movie had Dilip Kumar, Nimmi, Surya Kumari, Jeevan, Agha, Nawab, Tuntun etc in it.
AS many as eight songs from this movie have been discussed in the past.
Today (25th december) is the birth anniversary of Naushad (25 december 1919- 5 may 2006), one of the earliest pioneers of Hindi movie music. It was Naushad who incporporated elements of Indian folk music in Hindi movie songs which helped popularise Hindi movie music among masses.
This blog has as many as 332 Naushad compositions, which is 50 % of all Naushad compositions in Hindi movies. With time, we will hopefully have all Naushad compositions in this blog.
On the occasion of Naushad’s 93rd Birth anniversary, here is a song from “Udan Khatola” (1955). This song, the ninth from this movie to appear in the blog, is sung by Lata and it is picturised on Nimmi who is seen seated on a musical intrument (what it it called ?) singing this song while Surya Kumari is busy wooing Dilip Kumar.
Shakeel Badayuni is the lyricist of this song.
