I had mentioned in one of my earlier write-ups that all the songs from the film ANMOL RATAN (1950) were very rare to get in the 70s even with the individual collectors. Though the film failed miserably at the box office, all the songs from this film were the forgotten ‘ratans’ (gems). We are fortunate that majority of the songs from this film are now available on the internet as audio clips. There are 11 songs in the film of which 5 songs have been discussed in this blog.
Here is the 6th song ‘morey dwaar khulen hain’ from this film which is sung by Lata Mangeshkar. The song was written by D N Madhok and it was set to music by Vinod. The film was produced under the banner of Diwan Productions and directed by M Sadiq. The star cast included Karan Diwan, Meena Shorey, Madan Puri, Gope, Gulab, Nirmala Devi etc.
I heard this song for the first time and immensely liked it. This song reminds me of suhaani raat dhal chuki naa jaane kab tum aaoge (Dulaari, 1949). Not only the mukhda tune and genre of both these songs match, even there is some similarity in the use of the nature as metaphors describing the state of waiting for the beloved in the song. Actually, the words, ‘kab aaoge’ in the song took me to ‘Dulaari’ (1949) song.
But the song does not take away the credit from Vinod as we say ‘each one, his own’. The antaras of the song under discussion is set in a different tune than the antaras of ‘suhaani raat dhal chuki’.

I agree with nahm. ‘bin’ is used here in the sense of ‘except’. The words ‘bin’ and ‘bagheir’ are frequently used in this sense especially in poetry.

One of the best song of Eric Robert. Masterpiece Lyrics by D.N Madhok.I agree with Nahm for missing words “Phir Mati” Ki dheri ke bin Tum Kya Paaonge.
