“Dostana” (1980) was produced by Yash Johar and directed by Raj Khosla. The movie had Amitabh Bachchan, Shatrughan Sinha, Zeenat Aman, Prem Chopra, Amrish Puri, Helen, Pran, Paintal etc in it. Another movie with a copycat title was Rakesh Kumar’s “Yaarana” (1981), also starring Amitabh Bachchan.
Today (4 august 2013) is the 84th birth anniverasry of Kishore Kumar (4 august 1929- 13 october 1987). Here is a song from “Dostana” (1980) on this occasion. This song is sung by Rafi and Kishore Kumar and it is picturised on Shatrughan Sinha and Amitabh Bachchan as a stage song.
Considering that today is Friendship day as well, this is just the song for the day that the doctor ordered. 🙂

Another slow/sad version by Kishore and Rafi Version.Whether this version too belongs here ??? At the end of this clip above mentioned Kishore sad version also exists ??

Wow, what a find. I dont remember seeing this in the film. Maybe only a part in the above clip is used in the film. Myswar.com is not mentioning a sad version.
This could be one of those songs which are not mentioned in geetkosh too, if the recording was not included in the cassette or LP.
It may qualify as separate song as the start is ‘mere saathiya’ as per the practice in the blog.

the fast part of this version comes in the closing part of the movie. and Kishore Kumar part where he says “Main Rootha Hua Hoon Manale Mujhe” is in the middle of the movie

Kishore Kumar sings for Shatru when shatru realises that Amitabh was already in love with Zeenat before Shatru even meets Zeenat (in the movie) and all their misunderstandings are Prem Chopra’s creation.

About “Yaarana” – The movie was delayed in making or releasing. The music was released , songs were hit and were in Binaca geetmala too long before the movie released if i remember correctly.
